Agenda Items

1) Approval of February 13, 2008 Notes

Dave Vickery moved to approve the minutes.  Donna Donabella seconded.  The minutes were approved.

2) Oswego County Workforce New York Update- Nick Della Penna

Nick sent an Affiliate Site renewal application to Oswego County Opportunities in January.  It is due in June.  The committee agreed to grant OCO an extension if they need it.  Sarah will check on the status of the application, and let Nick know if an extension is needed.  If not, the committee will probably review it in August 2008.

3) Performance Review- Judy McManus

Performance results for the 2nd quarter of PY’07 were good, overall.  We are meeting eight of the nine Common Measures.  We are missing the Dislocated Workers- Average Earning measure.  The biggest cause for missing this measure is due to people who are laid off from manufacturing jobs generally find work at a lower rate than they had been working at.  Regionally we are achieving four of the six System Improvement Measures.  Locally, we are meeting all five of the six.

4) Customer Feedback Reports- Job Seekers, Training & Business- Judy McManus

The Customer Satisfaction Summary Report for January - March was very positive.  All responses were either “excellent” or “good” except a “fair” comment concerning the Center’s hours of operation.

There were six responses for the 25 surveys mailed out for Classroom Training feedback.  There was some negative feedback received about the Dental Assisting and Practical Nurse training courses provided by Oswego County BOCES.  BOCES is addressing these concerns.  Dave Vickery asked if we reviewed the performance of the training providers.  Nick responded that we just completed the review of all of our approved training providers.  The NYSDOL had requested this, and as a result of this review, a number of offerings were dropped from our listing.

Surveys were mailed to 14 businesses, with 8 responses.  Responses were very positive.

5) Training & Center Activity Report- Judy McManus

Judy McManus presented the Center Activity report that was devised to replace the information formerly provided by the Swipe Card system, which is no longer functional.  This information is pulled from OSOS.  We do not have the level of detail that the Swipe Card System provided, but we are able to see the types of services being accessed.

6) Strategic Planning Update- Nick Della Penna

We continue to produce additional job feature videos for the website for the Career Ladder Maps.  The site went live on March 3.  Nancy and Jeff Grimshaw presented the maps to the School Superintendents on May 7.  We would like to meet with the individual school districts next.  Donna offered to get us on the agenda for both the Curriculum and Guidance Counselors meetings.

We continue to work on the artwork for the posters that will be placed in the classrooms- hopefully this fall.

7) Next Meeting Date: August 20, 2008
