‘The
Partners’ Roundtable shall focus
on services to customers that would reduce duplication and save money that
could be reinvested into the system; identify and implement “best practice”
customer service strategies to universal population; oversee public relations for the partners; and
annually negotiate and prepare the MOU and cost allocation plan among the
partners.’

1) Approval of April 27, 2011 Minutes
Maggie Killoran moved to approve the minutes. Walt Freyer seconded. The minutes were approved.
2) Goals and Objectives Review- Chris
·
WIA
ProgramYear 2011 budget was released – Oswego County’s allocation was reduced
by approximately $138,156 or 12%.
Staffing has been reduced (through attrition) from 12.5 to 10.5 FTE’s.

Adjusting
to staffing changes at the One Stop – Judy McManus, Jeanne Cieszeski and Janet
Lanious retired. Pat Tyrrell and Silvia
Langdon were promoted to the Sr. Employment Specialist position. Heather Tebidor and Chad Whelsky were hired
as Employment Specialists. Beth Teifke
was moved to the DEI grant as the Resource Coordinator.

Worked
in collaboration with Senator Patti Ritchie, the Fulton/Oswego Chamber of
Commerce and the United Way to sponsor a Career Expo at the Fulton War Memorial
on 6/9/11.
·
Worked
with the Job Placement Network to sponsor a “Tools of the Trade” event on
6/23/11.
·
Hosted
Congressman Bill Owens for a visit to the One Stop on 6/28/11 – Congressman
Owens came to learn about the services available through the One Stop System.
·
Began
accepting “tickets” under the Social Security Ticket-to-Work program – 4
tickets have been accepted through 6/30/11.
·
Met
with Birdseye officials to discuss One Stop services in response to the
announcement that Birdseye is closing effective 12/31/11. Will be scheduling sessions for employees on
site at Birdseye once lay-off notices are issued.
·
Working
with Constellation to schedule an employer forum highlighting the jobs/career
ladders available at Constellation.
Event was originally scheduled for June 2011, but moved to September
2011.
·
Working
with the Literacy Coalition to sponsor a literacy event: One World, Many
Stories. The event will be held at the
Oswego Armory on 9/24/11.
·
Received
approval of the modification to the Wage Subsidy grant.
·
Continuing
to work with Cayuga Community College to develop slots for a transitional
employment program. Anticipated
placement dates were moved to September 2011.
Also working with North Country Restorations on a transitional
employment opportunity.
·
Continuing
to work in collaboration with the Oswego Public Library to develop workshops
and computer classes specific to the needs of Oswego County residents.
·
Working
with OCO to promote the National Work Readiness Credential (NWRC) and on a 2nd
application for the JART program.
Chris reviewed the One-Stop Center activity report for PY’10. BOCES was the largest recipient of WIA dollars among the partners. BOCES has received $114,000 of the $160,000 spent with the partners.
4) PY’11 Training Plan Update- Chris
Chris reviewed our
planned allocation of training funds for PY’11.
Although funding is down by about 10%, we established aggressive goals
for the year. We will continue to
utilize other grants like the
NEG and Wage Subsidy Grant to augment our WIA funds.
5) MOU Year 8, 9, 10, 11 – Nick, Chris
No
update from VESID for the MOU’s for years 8 & 9. Chris is
finalizing Year 10. Chris will begin
work on Year 11, and the Partners agree to utilize the same methodology.
6) Career Ladder Map Website – Nick
Nick stated that we are continuing to work with the SUNY Oswego Graphic Design Dept. students
to help us with the re-design of the site.
We will also be working with a separate group from Oswego County BOCES
in September.
7) Strategic Planning- Jeff Grimshaw
Jeff
presented the matrix of ideas received from this process. He asked the committee to review the
bullets, and get with him with specific ideas for next steps. Some items brought up by other committees included
increased marketing efforts and working more with area small businesses.
