4) PY’11 Summer Youth Program Update- Silvia Langdon

We have 93 youth enrolled in the program this year.  Eleven are being funded through WIA, and the balance through TANF.  Most of the youth have been place in summer recreation programs, school districts and senior housing and nutrition programs.

Silvia mentioned the Private Sector initiative that DET began this year.  Over 60 businesses were approached to provide summer work opportunities for area youth.  About 10 businesses responded with possible interest, and one youth has been placed in Sandy Creek.  Discussions are going on with other potential partners.
